The £56 Flights to New York… with a few Catches…
So my newsfeed has been bombarded with various newspapers and blogs writing up that Norwegian Airlines have announced they will be releasing £56 flights to New York, but are they what they’re all cracked up to be?
I’m not so sure….
Norwegian will be using the Boeing 737MAX which consume less fuel making them more economical, well that’s ok but lets take a look at some of the other factors…
Firstly they will only be departing from Edinburgh which is great if you live in Scotland, not so great for those in the rest of the UK who will incur additional traveling expenses getting up North. Secondly they won’t be landing in the New York Airports as we know them (Newark or JFK) but instead will be taking advantage of the lower priced secondary airports in the state which means you will need to budget for getting into the City once you’ve landed. There will be additional charges for baggage, reserved seating and meals to add on….
These flights may be handy for seasoned travellers or family members who are back and fourth with experience of getting around New York but for the first time visitor, I’d be very weary.

TOP TIPS ON BAGGING CHEAP FLIGHTS:
There are lots of great tips when it comes to bagging cheap flights…
Don’t settle for just one airline… when choosing one airline for your flight out and another for your return you can make massive savings!
Mix and Match Airports
Fly open-jaw… this means to depart from one airport and return to another, this is perfect for those living in London with a vast selection of airports in the area or for anyone in the North West who could fly from Liverpool and return to Manchester…
Be flexible… midweek flights can often be much cheaper than those at weekends.. thus longer breaks such as 8 or 9 nights can often work out cheaper than traveling for a week!
Save on Luggage Allowance:
Think carefully about your luggage… do you really need a suitcase each? Make the most of the cabin baggage allowance and share a suit case which could save you hundreds!
If you are wanting to get out and about during your holiday then maybe car hire would be a good option? We would suggest checking out Carrentals.co.uk whose easy to use site always has great prices.
For Cheap Airport parking check out Airparks who have awesome prices and are the company I use almost every time I travel
Trip Advisor is not just great for reading reviews on hotels that you have your eyes on but also for checking out local attractions in the area and I recommend a good browse over there before you travel!
